Nothing is as real as a dream.
The world can change around you,
but your dream will not. Your life may change,
but your dream doesn’t have to.
Responsibilities need not erase it.
Duties need not obscure it.
Tom Clancy
Tom Clancy graduated with a degree in English and then went on to work in Insurance, even owning a small agency. He wrote novels in his spare time and sold his first, The Hunt for Red October when he was 37 years old. He lived what he was talking about.
You have obligations. I have obligations. Obligations might slow our dream or even pause them for a little while. But in the end, obligations can’t kill your dreams–only we can kill our dreams. Even if you can only set aside 30 minutes a day or maybe even an hour, follow your dream. It’s that important.
That is so true! Oh how this resonates with me. It IS important but it is so easy to lose sight of your dream when the needs of others are right there in front of you. I am guessing you go through the same kinds of inner struggles that I, and many other people in our position, go through each day.
