Content is anything that adds value to the reader’s life
 Avinash Kaushik

What a perfect quote for this week.  I love blogging.  I love connecting with my readers.  But if I don’t produce the types of blog posts that my readers want to read then they aren’t going to come back. If you publish a blog post and no one reads it is it still a blog post?

All bloggers thrive on readers.  We want to know that our content is making a connection and has meaning to our readers.  Otherwise, what’s the point?  I could just keep a journal on my computer instead of posting it online.

That’s why it’s so important to know who your ideal reader is.  Once you know that, then you can write your blog posts to that person. It doesn’t necessarily mean that only that one type of person will read your blog.  But it does mean that your content flows, makes sense and connects with people who need it.

If you’re trying to write for every potential reader, then your blog post will be all over the place, the flow will be fractured and no one will want to read it.  Instead, keep it simple and write just to that one person that represents your ideal reader.

Know what your ideal reader is looking for and then write to your ideal reader.  If you need help in crafting this profile then you can Google “creating an ideal reader profile” or you check out this post about creating a reader profile for your blog.
