But the way to do it better later is to do it as well as one can today,
there can’t be anything but progress tomorrow.

This speaks volumes to just sitting down and doing the work. You can’t improve tomorrow if you don’t practice today. If you don’t write today, how can you edit tomorrow? Everything depends on what you are going to do today.
Do you write something? Anything? So that you can move forward? Or do you sit and do nothing because you are blocked? In How Does One Become A Painter, I wrote that Vincent Van Gogh once spent a year painting flowers just to get used to color. Imagine that. Painting the same thing over and over again, just to get better at it.
Write. Write today. It’s the only way to be better tomorrow.
I’m trying this whole write a post everyday for the month of November. And I wonder if it’s too much sometimes, as I feel less inspired and more obliged. In April I did it for the A to Z challenge, but there you had Sundays off, and my subject matter was the unique and interesting bustling gossip of retail life, as opposed to my normal day to day.
Several years ago I participated in something called Blogtoberfest where I was supposed to write a post every day in October. It got to the point that I was only putting up a picture with a quote on some days. Anything just to say I had a post every day. I can say that I learned a lot during that time. For instance, I don’t like doing a post every day, not even as a challenge. And I liked the inspirational phrases, but I turned them into Wednesday Whoas. But, as you can tell from this post, they are a little more than just an inspirational phrase.
Oh wow, can I ever relate to this. I’ve never really kept much to a blogging or writing schedule but some days we just have to show up and go for it to keep those creative juices flowing. Love the inspiration on your posts Jennifer.
I’m glad you found me. And you are right, some days we just have to show up. And then show up again. And show up again.
Oh, absolutely. And again and again and again!
