I don’t know.

But I will tell you what I’m doing.

It’s time to take a look at myself, unpack my baggage around white privilege, and hopefully move the conversation forward for me…and possibly for you.

So, I bought a book.

Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor. This book takes you through 28 days to help address biases and unpack your own privilege. Yes, if you are white like me, you experience white privilege.

Race shouldn’t be the thing we talk about when everyone becomes enraged over the senseless murder of another black person. It’s a conversation that we need to keep having, keep addressing, keep moving forward.

And white privilege is real. Just look at all the calls to the police from white people to complain about black people telling them to keep their dog leashed in a park that requires it, or because they are sitting on a bench, or because they delivered a package while black.

It’s time I unfold and begin the work to move forward. Will you join me? Do I truly know what this will look like? No. I’m kind of winging it right now because I think it’s an important conversation that we need to start. But look for another post on Wednesday.
