Of all the American educational system’s problems, none is more severe than the academic year beginning before Labor Day. P. J. O’Rourke

Just a short post today.  It’s Labor Day in the states.  When I was growing up, Labor Day was the last holiday of the summer.  It was also the last vacation day before school started.  One, last long weekend before the new school year.  Before studying all over again.  I sometimes think something is missing for kids today who have to now start school before Labor Day.  But I guess it’s really an outdated idea, in other parts of the country, kids are starting school at the beginning of August, not the end.  Sigh. Happy Labor Day.

If you’d like to know more about the history of Labor Day, I recommend going to the History.com Labor page.
