I love finding and doing new things and trying stuff out; that’s my favorite thing to do.

Is your favorite thing to do the same thing over and over again or do you like to get out and try new things?  One of the benefits of trying new things is to break out of a rut.  So if you find yourself on that merry-go-round of doing the same thing day in and day out then take a chance and step off of that merry-go-round and try something new.

Trying something new doesn’t have to be difficult, it can be simple.  Simple as taking a different route to work, simple as reading a different genre of book.  Or as simple as finding things on your state’s tourism page and going to check them out. Those are all different things that I’ve tried in the past.

You might be wondering what new things you can try because you’re still in lockdown due to Covid-19. I don’t know, how about a new craft? I took up crocheting. I’m still not great at it but the children that I’ve given scarves to think they’re the best.

Never read a book series in any genre? Now might be a great time to try one. I highly recommend the Harry Potter series if you haven’t read that. Or if you like mysteries this Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series is set in Victorian England.

What about planning your next trip. Maybe, right now, you don’t trust traveling and maybe where you want to go isn’t accepting travelers right at the moment, but that shouldn’t stop you from planning a future trip. By planning, I don’t mean booking the hotel rooms just yet. But picking out what you want to do and where you want to go. Be your own travel agent creating your daily itinerary, picking out the best hotels or Air BnB’s to use.

Explore your state or local county. In the U.S. most states have a State Tourism board that offers ideas on day trips in your areas. When we lived in Connecticut, we used to follow the Chocolate Trail which was a list of local chocolatiers throughout the state. There were also beer, wine, and antique trails and others in Connecticut. Why not look up what your state has to offer. You can search for Tourism or Visitor guides for your state to learn more.

Try learning a new language. There are so many options available to try nowadays. You can use Audible to learn new languages like Spanish, French, German, and many other languages. And then plan a trip where you’ll get to use your new language!

What ideas do you have for making trying something new your favorite thing?
