Tomorrow is the most important thing in life
Comes into us at midnight very clean.
It’s perfect when it arrives and puts itself in our hands.
It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.
John Wayne
Yes, tomorrow comes to us fresh. We get to start over each day. And that’s true whether that’s just waking up ready to start the day fresh and full of energy or truly starting over by throwing out what’s not working for you and trying something new. That’s why tomorrow is the most important thing.
Each day, we are renewed with energy, perhaps a new outlook. And, of course, we are renewed with a new set of things to do.
Here’s a key, though. Plan down time into your to-do list. I know I’m a “to-do” robot always trying to stay on my list—-but sometimes, the list has nothing on it (which can also cause mild panic….ok, more than mild.) To keep the panic at bay, I add fun things to my list like going to the movies and I always make sure to check that one off when I’m done!
(John Wayne’s quote courtesy of his gravestone.)
A brilliant way to look at things – we should all live like John Wayne! It’s amazing how a blank ‘to do’ list can panic us workaholics but putting fun stuff on them really does work. I keep two separate lists – personal and work related but maybe I will rethink that and have one gigantic list!
Many years ago, I went to a Mary Kay cosmetic seminar in Toronto (it was scary – very evangelical) but I learned one good thing – the six things list – write down the six most important things to do and work through them. Start the next day’s list with anything you didn’t get to the day before and then add more to make six. I need to start doing that again because my lists are way too ambitious!
I make the 6 things list work for me because I keep a larger master list. I cross them off the master list when I’m putting them on the 6 things list. It keeps me sane—drives non-list people up the wall.
It is amazing how overwhelmed I can feel at the end of the day and awaken with renewed optimism in the morning. Tomorrow is the most important thing and even better if one gets a refreshing night’s sleep. I’m starting my master to-do list today!
This is so beautiful and soooo very much needed today (heh and probably tomorrow, too…), thank you <3 <3
Your welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
